I was surprised that this was not a full-service restaurant, but that was on me for not doing my research before we came. This is one of many small restaurants surrounding a small outdoor courtyard. There are tables outside shared by all restaurants and a few inside. The seating inside was not very comfortable. You order and pay at the counter and then sit down; they bring your food out to you. Note that if you have many people in your party, the food is brought out as it's ready, and not all at once.

The food was delicious. The fried chicken was juicy and tender, and the menu had just enough variety to keep everyone happy. My teenagers loved the chicken and waffles, although they both would have loved an option to get more waffles and half the amount of chicken. Maybe a menu twist that could be offered? The local chicken sandwich was flavorful, and they gave just the right amount of fries--not too many and not too few.

We are not huge fans of this type of atmosphere. If we're going to pay that much for a meal, we'd like to be comfortable. If we come back, it will likely be for takeout so that we can enjoy the wonderful food comfortably at home. However, I know there are many people who enjoy this vibe, so I didn't rate down on my overall rating based on the atmosphere.

I had an amazing experience - from the food, to the customer service, it was great! The hot chicken with mac and cheese was delicious, and the chicken & waffles was the perfect combo of salty and sweet. Oh, not to mention BOGO on wine on Wednesdays! Can’t wait to go again ♥️.

The buffalo mac & cheese is 10/10.
The chicken and waffles an easy 8/10.

We did have an issue with our meal, no fault of the cook, and the waitress Paulina and cook/chef Javes are absolutely amazing.

Definitely one of our favorite new spots.

We absolutely love the atmosphere. The food was delicious. Chicken and waffles is the way to go. Carissa was our server. She was so sweet, well-mannered and funny. Very attentive. Definitely will be back. Have another trip planned in October and we can’t wait to return. Thanks for a great experience.

Stopped by Oviedo and figured we would give this place a try. To be honest nothing really stood out about our experience. I'm not sure if their kitchen was short staffed, but our food came out one plate at a time with 5 - 10 minutes between. The food was good, it wasn't something that I will rush back to eat. My experience was below average, but give it a try and see if you enjoy it.

I am a waitress so this review is coming from someone with high hopes but medium expectations with what I’ll get, and let me say The Local Hen was a wonderful establishment! Me and my mom came from out of town, and we came pretty late so we weren’t sure if they were open and the staff was so kind! She saw us outside, opened the door and told us that they were still open, because she saw how we couldn’t tell
The food was delicious! Especially the truffle fries best fries I’ve ever had! I got the chicken pesto, my mom got the classic chicken, and both were super delicious! My mom also tried the strawberry sangria and she loved it!
It’s a must try! Pictured is my sandwich and the amazing truffle fries! They also have a stackd brownie establishment in the food factory for a delicious dessert ?
